Hamster Not Moving But Eyes Open: Is It Dead?
A hamster that isn't moving but has its eyes open isn't necessarily dead. It could be tired, playing dead, sick, or even in a state of torpor (pseudo-hibernation).

Sometimes, a hamster might appear motionless with its eyes open simply because it is fatigued and needs to rest. This is a normal behavior when they are very tired.
Many animals in the wild, not just hamsters, will freeze when they sense danger from predators. Some will even play dead to avoid being eaten by animals that don't consume carrion. Hamsters often face predators that prefer live prey, so playing dead is a helpful survival tactic. You can try tempting your hamster with its favorite food or make some noise nearby. If it's playing dead, it should wake up.
If your hamster shows other symptoms like lethargy, loss of appetite, it could be due to low blood sugar, pyometra (uterine infection) or heatstroke. It's important to closely monitor your hamster. If you notice anything abnormal, take it to a veterinarian immediately for treatment.Follow us for updates:Pet Training
