Why Does My Dog's Poop Have White, Mucus-like Substances?

If you notice white, mucus-like substances in your dog's stool, it could be due to several reasons such as a parasitic infection, an inappropriate diet, or an underlying illness. It's crucial not to attempt self-treatment. Instead, it's highly recommended to seek veterinary attention promptly for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Consuming bones or indigestible foods might result in your dog passing white-colored feces. Both bones and raw meat can contribute to intestinal parasite infections. Tapeworms, in particular, are notoriously difficult to eradicate. If you observe white, rice-like segments in your dog’s stool, it's often an indication of a tapeworm infestation. These white segments are either tapeworm proglottids (segments) or eggs. A tapeworm infection may cause weight loss, malnutrition and can be accompanied by vomiting or blood in the stool.
