Dog Peeing Blood But Eating and Drinking Normally: Should You Worry?

If your dog is passing blood in its urine but seems otherwise fine, eating and drinking normally, it's likely they are suffering from a condition like cystitis (bladder inflammation) or urinary stones (urolithiasis). These conditions can make urination difficult and painful. It's important to note that this is not a condition that will resolve on its own, and veterinary attention is needed. The most common causes of blood in dog urine, even when appetite and water intake seem normal, are indeed bladder infections (cystitis) and urinary stones. These conditions can cause pain and difficulty when urinating. Certain toxic foods, like chocolate, onions, and garlic, can also cause hematuria (blood in urine) due to their hemolytic effects, which can damage red blood cells. Additionally, these foods can lead to kidney damage and in severe cases, be fatal for dogs.
