Several species of parrots are predominantly black, including the Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, the Baudin's Black Cockatoo, and the Palm Cockatoo. Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo The Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, scientifically known as *Calyptorhynchus banksii*, is a large parrot, typically measuring over 60cm in length and weighing upwards of 800 grams. Its predominantly black plumage is accented by striking red panels in its tail feathers. The males have a solid red tail band, while females display a mottled red and yellow tail. These cockatoos are characterized by their prominent black crest and are sometimes referred to as Red-tailed Black Cockatoos.
