It's generally not permitted to keep Chow Chows in urban areas of Beijing. According to Beijing's dog ownership regulations, dogs exceeding 35 centimeters in height at adulthood are typically prohibited within city limits. The regulations stipulate that dogs taller than 35cm at the shoulder are not allowed in the city. Adult Chow Chows commonly reach a height of 46cm to 56cm, coupled with a sturdy build and a weight of 30kg or more, classifying them as medium-sized dogs. Therefore, they are not allowed to be kept as pets in urban Beijing. If you wish to own a Chow Chow, you may do so in the more rural areas outside the city limits.
