Why Women Shouldn't Sleep with Dogs: Potential Risks and Dangers

It's often advised against women sleeping with their dogs due to several potential issues that can arise during shared sleep. These include the risk of accidentally rolling onto the dog and the possibility of the dog eliminating waste in the bed. Both scenarios pose a risk to the health of both the dog and its owner, making separate sleeping arrangements the more prudent choice.

Risks of Sleeping with Dogs for Women

1. Potential for Instinctual Behavior

Dogs, by nature, retain some of their instinctual behaviors. In certain circumstances, especially if startled or provoked, they might react aggressively. This is more of a concern with breeds known for stronger protective instincts, like Pit Bulls or Cane Corsos. Dogs that spend the majority of their time indoors without socialization training can be particularly prone to reacting out of fear, which could result in biting.

2. Risk of Accidental Injury to the Dog

When sharing a bed, there’s always a possibility of rolling over onto the dog, which is especially risky for puppies. The weight of an adult human can cause injury to a young dog. It’s important to prioritize puppy health and opt for high-protein dog food to support their development.

3. Possible Bedtime Accidents

Allowing dogs to sleep in the bed frequently can lead to them developing the habit of sleeping and defecating in bed. Dog waste contains bacteria and parasites which could transmit disease to humans. Therefore, it’s best to establish a separate sleeping place for your dog. It's also important to train puppies when they are three months old about eliminating in the correct place and reward with treats like dried chicken or kibble for good behavior.Read more here:Pet Breeds
