Large Size

Adult Great Pyrenees typically weigh between 40 and 60 kilograms, with some reaching up to 150 kilograms. Their large size not only presents challenges for owners but can also cause misunderstanding and fear in public places. This is a significant reason why they are not allowed in Chengdu.

Potential for Aggression

While they might appear gentle and docile, Great Pyrenees retain some level of aggression and possess an inclination to attack. Their sharp claws and exceptionally strong teeth can easily break human bones or tear flesh. Conflicts with people could lead to severe consequences.

Sensitive Temperament

Great Pyrenees are naturally sensitive and suspicious, which makes them vulnerable to disturbances in their environment. Car horns, firecrackers, and construction noises can easily startle them, making them break away from their owner's control, leading to erratic behavior like biting or excessive barking. Such factors mean that this type of dog is not well-suited to densely populated cities and, therefore, are banned.

How Much Does a Great Pyrenees Cost?

Generally, the most affordable Great Pyrenees are those without a pedigree certificate. They can sometimes be purchased for as little as 1000 RMB. However, for those who want a quality Great Pyrenees, such dogs are not recommended, because they are not purebred and lack the qualities that people seek when buying a Great Pyrenees. For pet-quality Great Pyrenees, the price typically ranges from 1500 to 2500 RMB. Purebred Great Pyrenees can cost around 3000 RMB.
