Shipping Turtles: Which Courier Services Allow It and How to Pack Them
Turtles, being live animals, are generally not permitted for shipping by most courier companies. However, in China, SF Express (顺丰速运) is a notable exception, allowing the shipment of non-protected turtle species. SF Express maintains strict air transport regulations for live turtles, prioritizing their safety during transit.
How to Ship a Turtle with SF Express
1. Open the WeChat mini-program and search for "SF Express". Follow their official account and access the mini-program.
2. Accurately fill in the recipient's address and sender's address, then click on "Item Information".
3. In "Item Information", search for "turtle". A warning message and live animal packaging requirements will appear. Click "Confirm".
4. Take a photo for confirmation and wait for the courier to pick up the package. This completes the shipping process.
Important Precautions for Shipping Turtles
1. Ventilation Holes: Create ventilation holes at the top or upper sides of the container. Carefully consider the size and number of holes to avoid the turtle getting its limbs stuck.
2. Secure with Fabric: Wrap the turtle in a cloth bag, towel, stocking, or newspaper to prevent it from moving around excessively and getting injured. This also helps keep the turtle calm during transport, making shipping easier.
3. Shock Absorption with Foam: Line the bottom and sides of the container with foam padding to prevent injuries to the turtle's shell. Fill the space between the inner and outer containers with foam, sponge, or paper to provide extra cushioning. For long journeys, moisten the fabric or add fresh, damp moss to maintain humidity. Finally, securely seal both boxes together with strong tape, and it’s recommended to place the box in a woven bag for extra protection.Free access here:Pet Grooming
